You can adjust the transmit power of the router using the Tomato firmware, allowing it to greatly increase your WiFi signal. I went from two bars outside the front door of my house on the porch, to full strength, just by adjusting the default transmit power from 42 mW to 150 mW. Your mileage may vary, and your router may not allow this change.
